What does LinearVariationalSolver solve and what are the values that are plotted? cf. Figure 26.2 of FEniCS book

For Figure 26.2 of the FEniCS book, in the context of linear elasticity, after the variational problem is solved by LinearVariationalSolver, and the result is plotted, what are the values that are plotted? Is it the stress in one direction or u, the displacement?

The listing in Fig. 26.2 does not contain any plot command, does it? At least not in the download version of the book. Since you are solving for u in this example plotting u seems reasonable, though: plot(u)
