what is password of root for the virtual machine image

The virtual machine image did not run the command 'startx' on my virtual machine because there was no correct module. I want to install general module such as 'vesa' module on the system, anymore, I want to add some other tools for this system for usage. However, I have no password of root, so I can do nothing. Is there anybody can give me the password?

Have you tried to run sudo? The password is fenics.
