Very slow rendering of WYSIWYG editor preview

+4 votes

Do you sometimes experience very slow rendering of preview of both answers and comments? With my 2-core, 2GB RAM, Firefox machine editor gets every few written characters busy for few seconds so that it is unusable. I don't observe this behaviour on stackexchange.com running similiar WYSIWYG editor.

Everybody who suffers from this issue, please, report in a comment what browser do you use.

Same with me! Sometimes my firefox even complains about unresponsive java scripts.

The editors available for q2a are limited in number. It is possible to switch back to the built-in editor, but it would probably make code highlighting stop working.

It would be nice to get the exact same editor as on stackexchange - but it probably involves a lot of JavaScript hacking to get it working...

If there is no easy fix how to get around this then never mind, Chris. It's only slight inconvenience - one can always type into a text editor without preview and then paste into Q2A editor.

@Jan, may Firefox be the cause of the problem?

I've been using Google Chrome with no real problems...

I'm using Chromium (with 16GB of RAM). The preview is not immediate (and the first time I thought it was broken), but it does work ok if one gets used to it.

Yes, I don't have these problems when using Chrome.

It seems that Chrome solves the issue.
