Install Fenics 2016.1.0 on Linux Mint

I'm trying to install Fenics 2016.1.0 on Linux Mint. I thought this was the same as installing on Ubuntu, so I tried.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:fenics-packages/fenics
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install fenics
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

and the installation seems to work fine, but when the installation is done I check

dolfin-version
1.6.0

so I still have the previous version installed. Does anyone know how to install on Linux Mint? Should I do a manual installation?

Which version of Linux Mint are you on? We have only made packages for FEniCS 2016.1 for Ubuntu 16.04, and AFAICT, Linux Mint 18 is based on that version of Ubuntu.

Manual installation of the latest version works perfect.

Indeed, I am on Linux Mint 17 Qiana, so that might explain why it does not work. Maybe I just need to update to Mint 18 then. Otherwise I will try the manual install. Thanks.
