Why is there no PETSc backend in the Xenial PPA of version 2016.1.0?

+1 vote

I just installed the latest PPA version on Ubuntu-Mate 16.04.
As far as I can see, Eigen is the only linear algebra backend available.
In contrast to this, the stable docker container also includes PETSc.
Is there any reason for this? What will be the simplest way to include
PETSc into the PPA installation?

This has been fixed earlier today, so the simplest solution would be to upgrade your packages.
