Traditional model: one department - one equation.

A new paradigm is now emerging

With the development of a general methodology for solving differential equations during the last fifty years (the finite element method), the traditional model is now becoming obsolete and a new model building on interdisciplinary cooperation is emerging (e.g. Chalmers Finite Element Center).
